Police: Gunman Kills 1, Injures 7 At Tennessee Church

A masked gunman invaded a Nashville church Sunday and opened fire, walking silently down the aisle as he shot unsuspecting congregants.  At least one person was killed and seven others wounded, authorities said.  An usher confronted the shooter, who apparently shot himself in the struggle before he was arrested, police said.  No motive was immediately determined.

Narcan. The New Jersey Department of Corrections is allocating $1.2 million to train DOC custody staff on the administration of Narcan and provide each staff member with a dose to carry on their person in case of an inmate emergency. The funding also will provide one Narcan dose to each inmate being released, estimated to be about 10,000 each year. Since April 2014, there have been more than 32,000 deployments of Narcan by law enforcement and EMS agencies throughout New Jersey including more than 9,500 deployments for 2017 thus far.

The El Paso Municipal Police Officers’ Association sadly announces the passing of retired Detective John D. Seelig #72 who passed away on September 12, 2017 at the age of 71.   (Ret.) Detective Seelig served the El Paso community as a peace officer for 20+ years.  He joined the El Paso Police Department in December of 1968 and retired on July 14, 1989.
Felon Who Killed NM Officer In 2016 Sentenced To Life Without Parole

A fugitive who fatally shot a New Mexico officer during a 2016 traffic stop was sentenced to life without parole Thursday. Jesse Hanes took a plea deal in May and pleaded guilty to first-degree murder for the death of Officer Jose Chavez, KOB News reported. Hanes and passenger James Nelson were wanted for a fatal shooting in Ohio when they were pulled over by Chavez in August of 2016.

The massive facility was opened Tuesday night and can house up to 10,000 evacuees, according to Houston media. As many as 1,030 people had arrived there as of early Wednesday morning.   The department sent 31 officers, four sergeants and one lieutenant more than 500 miles to support the local law enforcement in Houston.

  Last Friday, a class of 30 Cadets (2017-Delta) graduated and are now training on the job.  Last Monday, a class of 32 cadets (2017-Echo) started and we are expecting approximately 30 more cadets for 2017-Fox-Trot in just over a week on July 31, 2017. That’s approximately 90 new officers by October 5, 2017.

The parking garage at El Paso police headquarters is not safe, according to El Paso Police Department union president Ron Martin. A few years ago, a fire truck fell through the top level of the garage, according to Martin. “Worst case scenario, you have a vehicle fall off the upper deck of the parking garage, lands on somebody or kills somebody underneath,” Martin said.
